Dysproteinemia
Anesthesia Implications
Anesthesia Implications
Bleeding risk – This disease presents the risk of abnormally high bleeding due to defects in adhesion, aggregation, and procoagulant activity.
Pathophysiology
This disease is characterized by abnormal, often excessive, production of immunoglobulin (Ig) molecules or subunits. This may result in paraprotein tissue deposits and produce an array of pathologic lesions (which are most commonly amyloidosis and monoclonal Ig deposition disease).
Signs and symptoms include: pain, N&V, Fatigue, weight loss, nocturnal diarrhea, orthostatic hypotension, erectile dysfunction, sensory loss, and motor weakness.
